Ah March, the month that has been good and bad to me. I can't say I'm glad it's over, but I am a bit. I was sick half the month, and on top of that, battling with deadline week of uni. But I've also spent loads and still not enough time with Jaye, and got to spend some time with the flatmates before they went home for easter. Beauty-wise, it has been a ridiculous month of rotating products and finding firm loves.
(Shh! I know this one was supposed to be up last week, but let's not advertise that) The past couple of weeks started out great and then, well, went downhill from there. First off, I met up with the lovely Jaye again. I know, from the amount of times this little lady has been mentioned on the blog, you'd think that we knew each other for ages, but can you imagine, when this photo was taken, it was only the second time we'd met? She came around midweek for chats, pizzas and loads of tea.
orange you glad it's spring?
- 28.3.14
There are colors that I wear year round, and then there are the seasonal hues. Oranges fall into the later category as they look as out of place in moody December as a talking banana in a corporate building. Although recent temperature has been weirdly dropping, the sun and month has justified dusting off these oranges hues.
It's a known fact that I don't call things 'dupe' lightly. Alternatives, comparable, maybe, but the word 'dupe' is too often over and misused. However, I've finally found something that I can justify using the word 'dupe' and it's a good one. I've been trying to find a good alternative to the limited edition Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Turquoise for a friend for long months now. I've come close a couple of times color-wise, but this time I've finally hit jackpot.

Come round Spring and there goes my bank balance. While everything is covered up by a warm jacket-slash-coat in the winter, spring is the season where the scarves and accessories come out to play once again. I always go on a rampage in stores when the florals and pastels start showing their faces on shelves, especially in the accessories department as, let's face it, chances are I'm 90% still going to be living in a simple tee and jeans.
Look who's pretty face is with me! I've looped Jaye into filming her youtube debut and gave her a hand to launch her own channel.
Shopping Jaye's Stash
- 21.3.14
I went around to Jaye's last weekend to rummage around her makeup collection, film some videos (remember to check back tomorrow to see Jaye's youtube debut!), all the while hiding away from the essays I was supposed to do. This girl has a drool worthy makeup collection and she was generous to part with her beloved to let me try out.
10 things London taught me
- 19.3.14
I'm a base freak. I love collecting bases. But trying to at least act like a sane person, I'm restraining myself from ticking every product off the wishlist. However, unfortunately, I'm also the kind of person that gets stuck in a rut quite often. Recently, between healing spot-scarring and already cleared skin, I'm in that awkward session of amazing skin in the majority of places, and then there's the scarred chin and cheek(s). Instead of taking time to dope up on the concealer, or breaking the bank to buy yet another unwarranted foundation, I decided to play matchmaker and married two of my favorite bases with a sensational lovechild.
Currently Loving #7
- 16.3.14
I feel like I've been a makeup rut recently. But not a sane person's rut. Nor a normal person's rut. I've had a surge of new makeup products in the past month before I started my 'new makeup, no more' spending ban, and well, when presented with too many choices, I panic and don't know what to do. Contradictory much, Daphne? Anyway, there are a couple of products that I've really been loving lately, but am not sure if they'll make the final 'March Favorites' cut.
[The Video] Empties #1
- 15.3.14
Another Saturday video here for you guys! I'm starting to get the hang of scheduling videos, so hopefully, I'll be able to settle down a routine for you guys.
50 Shades of Taupe
- 14.3.14
[Maybelline Eyestudio Mono in Iced Fudge | Maybelline Color Tattoo in Permanent Taupe | MAC Satin Taupe | L'Oreal Infallable Eyeshadow in Taupe Royal | Maybelline Eyestudio Mono in Silken Taupe | Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit | Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint in Rich Russet]
I never thought I was a taupe person. For the longest time, I was convinced that the bronzey, golden colors were my true match. And then I had an affair with MAC Satin Taupe and well, I guess you can say the collection grew since then.

Do you really need more neutrals, Daphne? That's the question I kept asking myself when I was browsing the makeup geek website. But after online swatches and flipping through the abundant neutral shadows I have, I came to the conclusion: Well, duh! Obviously! I know, I have a problem. But we'll get to that some other time.
Although spring isn't officially here yet, I think we can stop counting down the days to the end of heavy coats and wool scarves. The past couple days in London have been absolutely beautiful, I'd find any reason to go outside. Even if it means going to school, as it would give me a legit reason to take a break from essays and studying. But yesterday, I decided to ignore all responsibilities and the piled up work to have lunch with Annie. It was the first time in months I was all spring and it would be a shame if I didn't take advantage of the natural lighting.
The past two weeks was definitely gluttony on so many levels - there was an abundant amount of food (yes, even more than usual), catching up with old friends, going crazy with new ones, drinks, and as always, full of school work. But that's a whole different kind of gluttony.
(oh, you know, casually reenacting the scene in ET through the windows of Starbucks)
Behold and beware, the first time that you guys will get a proper look of what I look like without a tiny tint of makeup on. I must say, the day I filmed it was a relatively good skin day. I still have the spots and scars, but I'm nowhere near as dalmation as I was a couple weeks back.
i'm sorry, i've moved on.
- 7.3.14
There are just those days when you want that simple kinda makeup. Whether it's just because you're short on time, or it's just the look that you want to go for. I've been wearing this look for the past several days as I'm drowning in school work and am just craving for the simple days.
I've had this post sitting in my drafts for weeks now. It's been begging to be written but I keep putting it off as I feel I can't do these eyeliners justice. After getting through my punk rock/gothic phase a couple years ago, I was never a huge eyeliner girl. But like all stories there's a twist and it came in when the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajals came into my life.

Technically, it's already March, but if you think about it, it's only been 31 days since the last favorites post and well, I don't think I'm late on schedule yet. Between school, being sick and meeting up with old and new friends, the 28 days of February went by quicker than I could fully fall in love with the array of products I've been trailing out.
Goodbye February and hello March! It's a new start that's going to be filled with school work and resisting the urge to spend any unnecessary money. But on the happier note, we started off the month with beautiful sunny weather here in London! My friend made me take a mini photoshoot when we were out and about earlier today and well, it'd just be rude to let her photos go to waste. So I guess here are snippets of what I was wearing while trekking the streets of London on the first of a new month.
