I started 2014 as one person and ended it as another. It's scary how much has changed in the span of twelve months - I'm sure the same could be said for every one of us. We've all gone through things and have changed and grown, mostly without consciously realizing. I've said this a couple times before, and I'll say this again, I've changed so much in the past year but I'm still the same person. Here are 14 lessons that I've learned throughout the journey.
I never know how to take photos of eye looks. Someone teach me. I've been wearing more of a bold lip lately, but when I attended a Christmas Party last week, I decided that the continuing glasses of wine would probably be better off if I wore a lower maintenance lip paired with a smoky eye. I'll leave out the details, but let's just say that I sent out a couple of apologetic texts the next morning. It wasn't particularly shameful, it was just...cringe-worthy texts that might have left the reciprocant full of question marks and more. One of them involved octopuses and penguins.
I'll be honest with you, like serious honest - I feel cheated on. There's no worse feeling. It's like finally transporting a carton of eggs home from the grocery store, only to drop them when you're about to put them in the fridge. After years of hmm-ing and ahh-ing over the Beauty Blender, I finally decided to cave to the hype around it.
Phew, has the last week been intense. It was deadline week and I was basically worried left and right on the quality of my essay. But that's already handed in and I'm allowing myself a week off before going back to tackle the amount of work I need to finish before the school bells ring again.
It has been a very lyrical-title week, hasn't it? It's been well-documented on the blog that I'm a base-freak. My foundation collection knows no boundaries, and if it wasn't for the limitation on my bank balance, I'd probably be out to try every foundation out there in hopes I'll find the one. But surprisingly, I've been sticking to the same base routine the past several weeks and it's served me well.
Rolling the clock back to my teenage years, I could be surviving on 4 hours of sleep per night and still not be plagued with dark circles. Fast forward to now, I'm missing how healthy the young body is as I'm managing to get seven hours of sleep but the darkness of those under eye pesks are darker than the sky on a new moon. What's worse? My under eye circles seem to have their own little black hole as they seem to suck out the concealer after a couple hours. It took me a while, but I've finally found a way to camouflage the perpetual darkness while counteracting the blackhole.
So, there have been a lot of brighter hues going around the past several weeks as I've been needing that mood-lift to psychologically hypnotize myself I'm not as tired and weared out as I actually feel. It's definitely been working, fake it till you make it. That's my life motto for the time being, babes.
Uh, so those of you that are going to venture into this post, I should probably post a warning that you will be tired of my face when you're done reading. I never know why skin is always at its worst when I'm decide to make face files on the blog - but that's not entirely the point for this post. I'm a sucker for a good lip colour as it can instantly transform the same simple winged-liner look - as demonstrated below.
Also, I do realize how tired I look in the pictures.
Quoting a friend, "Belgium is like your backyard." I'm definitely not going to argue to that as it's one of the first places that I think of when needing a getaway. I mean, being able to stay at my best friend's place as his parents cook up the most delicious meals and having nature at your fingertips? What more can I ask for?
