I haven't done a tag in ages and it seems that tags are a tad more on the low then they were a while back? At least that's the impression I'm getting from my feed. Anyway, the lovely Jaye tagged me to do the makeup addict tag and so here are my answers to kickstart the week.
It's been a while since I've rounded up the monthly favourites in a place for you guys. September has been a rollercoaster ride for me, so while I can't say I'm sad to say goodbye and move on, the past thirty days will definitely have a bookmark in my life.
Grab your favourite mug to cradle in your hands because it's storytime today. Despite having a daughter that tries to run a beauty blog, I think the only makeup my mum owns is an eyebrow pencil and a couple of lipsticks. But while I was in Taiwan over the summer, my mum spent quite some time rummaging through the picks I brought back and made me place a couple of orders to add into her arsenal. My mum's quite the picky person when it comes to makeup, so if these picks are good enough for her...
It's not often I repurchase things. Or in the rare case I do, it's even more rare that I actually use the things I've repurchased. Call it being restless and curious. Or flimsy, depends on which side of the coin you're looking at. But over the summer, I've finished up a couple of things and surprisingly, bought the duplicate of the deceased (wut). There are times when you should shut up and try to be normal, Daphne.
One of the best things of streamlining the makeup collection is forcing a product to be an octopus - being able to multitask and invent new functions. The Real Techniques Multitask Brush was already able to use both left and right hand in functionality, but it was still falling an inch or two short of its name. But like I said, situations force evolution. In the past month of being with a limited amount of brushes has stimulated this brush to really explode its potential and grow into the name it was given.
It's been two weeks since I've been back in London and it's the first time I've been able to properly sit down, finish typing up this post and then marathoning Law and Order: SVU like it's no one's business. Between moving, cleaning, sorting out paperwork and meeting up with friends, I've been completely swamped. It's the perfect way to welcome me back to this busy city.

Not too long ago, I shared the story of how I was forced into the world of peachy nude lipsticks. For those of you that missed it, long story short, my mum thought all my bold coloured lipsticks screamed MANEATER too loud and hence, dragged me to a makeup counter to put a 'friendly' option in my collection.
My mum doesn't believe in smartphones. Meaning up until two years ago, I was still texting with a number pad on an indestructible Nokia phone. I finally got to upgrade to a basic Sony Xperia a couple years back, and while it was a smartphone, I was still unable to enjoy the innovative way of splurging on various phone cases as my phone was too peasant for case companies to make a model of. Two years of butchering the poor phone and labouring it to run apps that are far too advanced for the model's CPR to handle, I've finally traded that poor fellow in for my aunt's old iPhone 4. I say 'old' but it's in great condition and best of all? I can finally find a new way to spend money on beautiful things.
Okay guys, this is it. I'm still sorting out some lighting problems with my new room but have no fear, I'm getting back on the blogging track again. What better way to kick start things than letting you guys know about probably, one of the best bargains in the beauty world.
Being off the grid means the products I've been loving are like trees falling in the forest when there's no one around to hear it - too much? Anyway. I've been sticking to the same makeup routine for the past couple of months and am pretty much in a committed relationship with this quick routine. Because really, between the 35 degree summers back in Taiwan and moving flats in London, it's unrealistic to slap on anything more complex than eyeliner.
Change is a natural process, it's an inevitable thing that will happen over time. Most of the time, we're unconscious of the inches moved until we look back and see the difference in dust markings. But when the change is conscious, it's a whole different story. Some people have the ability to take change in stride, some even embrace it. Me? I'm terrified.
If you know me, I'm either all or nothing with my lip colours. Usually. With the exception of two lipsticks, all of the lip companions are bright, bold colours - which was exactly the choices I brought back to Taiwan. Now, while there are people that do wear a bold lip in the modern Asian city, we are rare gems. I remember wearing a red lip one day and I kept getting glanced at on the street and asked out in coffee shops. Lipstick should never be interpreted as an invitation for sleezy hit ons. My mum finally dragged me to the makeup counters to find me a more 'friendly' toned down lip option.
I'm going to make this analogy and some people are going to eye roll at how dramatic I am (but let's face it, I was never the most subtle person when in writing) but here goes: makeup products are like the people passing through your life. There are the products that you get along with the first time round, there are the pests, there are the ones that you can't love no matter how hard you try, and possibly one of the most dire situations: the ones that won't let you love them no matter how much you want to.
