the favourite 2014 posts

6.1.15

Whether you joined in my little cult from the beginning or halfway through, thank you for putting up with my nonsense babbling the whole last year - for those of you that have decided that my sometimes-questionable posts are still worth taking up your time in the new year, here's a bucket-load of chocolate chip cookies for you! I thought I'd do a roundup of the popular posts of 2014, just in case you missed any or (by any chance) want to relive my chatter.
orange you glad it's spring?: the one where I pull a terrible pun in the title and talk about my favourite orange-toned lipsticks. Also the same one where I talk about how I will probably never wear red lipstick spoiler alert: it turned out to be a lie.

Packaging Matters: the one where I try to justify buying products for the pretty packaging.

disappointing packaging: the one where I try to do the opposite and argue that you can't judge a book by it's crappy cover. I also throw out the controversial statement of not being fond of the cult-loved packaging of MAC lipsticks.

the everyday storage: when I pretend that I somewhat have a part of my life in order and show you my ridiculously neat storage I use for my daily makeup.

[the review] L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara: the one in which I try to model mascara and you can see my pores in all its glory. Also one of my best mascara finds of the year.

[the review] Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation: My first powder foundation and a brilliant one at that- also the one where you can learn why only wearing a base and no other makeup isn't the best balanced look.

the game changers: creating cheekbones and continuing to compose symphonies for cult-loved products.

The Subtle Friendly Lips: the one where I tell a story of how my mum tried to transform me from man-eater to...eh, a more approachable human being.

Do I Really Need It All?: the one where I look at my makeup collection and wonder how many burgers I could've bought if I didn't buy 300 neutral eyeshadow palettes. It's one where I get serious about things.

you don't need to be a size 0: the one where blogger decided to complete my mission of deleting all my photos before high school and took out the photo that went with this post. I talk about body issues and how I thought I was hideous when I was pretty fabulous.

Other than the posts that you guys loved the most, I thought I'd feed into my ego and talk about the ones that were my personal favourites to type up.
the transatlantic birthday box: the one where I showcase how awesome Vanessa is and all the beautiful things she sent me for my birthday.

[the face] going red: the post where I contradict my own statement from several months back about not going anywhere near red lipstick.

a week in sardinia: the one where I showcase how awesome my vacation was, how we violated traffic rules in Italy, and how much I love my people. Also the first time I've ever worn red lipstick on the blog.
"you're a grown woman now": this is the story of how the perfume obsession came upon.

the little things: technically a series, but the posts where I try to be an optimistic person and not make morbid jokes 24/7.

if it's good enough for mum.: the one where I tell stories about my mum and how she's stealing half my makeup collection.

Serious though, SoaD could have never grown if it wasn't for each and every one of you. You guys mean so much to me and I hope to continue to bond with you guys over a ridiculous love of makeup in the new year. Thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful year ahead of you!
Also, don't worry, I do have a best of 2014 beauty finds coming up later in the week!
With Love,
Daphne x
